Since the beginning of their war of aggression against Ukraine, officially labelled as a "special operation," Russia's rulers have set about permanently transforming society. While mass emigration and waves of repression against opponents of the war who have remained in the country have reduced or muzzled the European-minded segment of the population, schools have been compelled to educate the next generation about unconditional loyalty to the state.
